A Little Dirt Never Hurt in Fulton & Callaway County!
There’s no better time to head outside in Callaway County, get dirty and work up a sweat – all in the name of fun!

Going into battle is a messy business, but it’s hard to beat for fun when you’re taking on your family and friends at Battle Creek Paintball in Kingdom City, Missouri’s largest and longest-running paintball park. Open play is Saturday and Sunday, but reservations are available seven days a week. Choose from a variety of packages or even try your hand at axe throwing.
When your tastes run to more “civilized” forms of exercise, head over to Central Missouri’s premier public golf facility, Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton. The par 72 course offers plenty of challenge with rolling hills, magnificent fairways and the best greens in the area. After your round, enjoy a little refreshment at their bar and grill.

It’s easy to work up a sweat out on the Katy Trail State Park, but you can also change a hike into a pleasant stroll or a fun horseback ride. Access the trail at North Jefferson City, Hartsburg, Mokane, Portland or Tebbetts trailheads, but horseback riding is limited to the stretch between Portland and Tebbetts.
The Stinson Creek Trail in Fulton is another great trail for walkers and bicyclists.

Disc golf, also known as frisbee golf, is a sport in which players throw a flying disc at a target; it is played using rules like golf. But mostly, it’s FUN! In Callaway County, you can compete to your heart’s content on two different courses: Holts Summit Disc Golf Course and the Veteran’s Park course in Fulton.

Of course, there’s more than one way to enjoy the dirt this time of year, and one of the best is a Friday night spent at Callaway Raceway, a quarter-mile dirt oval just south of Fulton, featuring the best door- to-door racing action in Missouri.
And speaking of racing, check out Hams Prairie International Speedway, a unique little track that’s in the Wyman’s backyard in Hams Prairie, 10 minutes south of Fulton. It’s a fun place to enjoy go cart racing on a fast dirt track.
At the end of the day – or days – of getting hot and sweaty and totally exhausted, treat yourself to a delicious cool-down at The Station in Fulton’s downtown Brick District. Choose from a selection of their famous frozen cocktails and then relax on the patio. If you happen to be there on a Friday, stay for some great live music, 7 p.m.- 9 p.m.
